Thanks for sharing this. I wrote a similar letter of sorts to my cats Ned and Mia. It’s powerful stuff reflecting on our animals and their passing. Wishing you all the best

Ok, I’m ugly crying, but I feel such joy at the thought of him dancing in your mind. That eternal spark of joy. Oh, how our companions grace us. ♥️

What a wonderful tribute to your wonderful friend. I’m so sorry for your loss, but glad you were able to write this. It also helps me think about my dogs who have died with a little more acceptance, or something like it.

Thanks Anna, it’s always hard to accept their absence, writing helped inch me towards that

Will, that piece killed me. I was crying long before it was over. I love dogs, but sadly, I'm allergic. However, it has never stopped me from hugging them, scratching where they like it best and letting them lick me while I have to stifle an urge to lick them back. Sure I've paid the penality in wheezing, swollen throats, scratchy skin, but God, it's worth it. Dogs are a gift. Thank you, my friend.

Dogs are one of a kind. If I was allergic I’d do the same—power through it to scratch their bellies. Thanks for the kind words, Sandy!

I was truly moved by this Will. They become such a big part of our lives. Always there for us, always loyal, loving and dedicated. Never expecting anything but to share our company. Never questions, never doubts. They are the purest love there is. He's still with you and you with him. - Jim

Tell your mom she's brilliant.

Odor is so much more important to dogs than it is to us.

Anyone who has lost a fur friend that goes all the way back to shitty high school days can feel the deep dark sink of every single word here. I’m so sorry, Will. Handsome motherfucker indeed… Bowser was and is so good, good for your entire soul. Forever means forever.

He will be remembered as the quintessential handsome motherfucker.
